
We don't only help musicians develop their talents, but we also help musicians develop their collaboration, performance and professional skills to make sure they can thrive in the creative industry.

When you study music with us you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a number of different areas such as instrumental skills, general musicianship, planning for a career in the industry and using a digital audio workstation. We can cater to all abilities and our varied and talented staff have a wide range of experience and expertise, with some even still working in the music industry today. Studying at Level 3 allows a clear pathway into studying music at university but it will also set you up with the skills for entering the music industry in a variety of different ways.
LEVEL 1 & 2

Our music sessions consist of a range of activities in a fun and supportive environment. Students work in creative ensembles with others and are supported to learn and create music in a fun and vibrant environment.
Learning is catered towards the students interests and their is always the opportunity to learn a new instrument too!

LEVEL 3

When you study music with us, it is in a relaxed and vibrant environment alongside supportive staff and a number of friendly and creative peers. We are able to cater for all learning srtyles and focus on your musical interests. You will also be learning about how to 'make it' in the modern music industry by learning about aspects such as how to be a great performer, producer, a session musician or even get into music business!

How to improve on your instrument or even learn a new instrument by working with a tutor in bespoke lessons.

How to use a Digital Audio Workstation and a huge variety of modern and old school production skills.

How to implement your musical skills and knowledge into a career pathway in the creative arts industry.
MUSIC PRODUCTION
At Level 3 Music Production can be studied separately or alongside Music.

We have a professional recording studio at The White Rooms with a fully kitted out Control Room, a Live Room and a Vocal Booth. With this learners can be as creative as they want whilst studying with us. Whether you are a solo artist, in a band, or an aspiring dance music producer or DJ we can help you get your music coming out of the speakers.
We offer a numerous modules incorporating all aspects of music production including:

Studio Recording including microphone techniques and placement

Mixing

Beat making

Synthesis
-
Audio and midi editing

Sound Design
Alongside this our tutors will help learners with their artistic direction and guide them in their own creative process. In doing so, learners are allowed to learn at their own pace and be as creative as they want.
Our tutors are experienced at working with students of all levels, so if you are a complete beginner or have some experience, we can cater to you and work at your pace.
The THS Studio consists of (Studio 1) a control room, large live room and a vocal booth. We also have a smaller “project studio” (Studio 2) upstairs at the White Rooms.

We have a rich history of concerts and performances at Tang Hall SMART and we have hosted these at the biggest venues in York such as The Barbican, The Fulford Arms, Fibbers and Theatre 41. Performing at venues like this allows you to develop your professional skills and have the chance to perform in real world venues with real world expectations. We also hold a variety of concerts and festivals in the hall at our base in Burnholme.
