What a term! There is a throb of activity around the place, as students complete their units of RSL coursework (35 registered learners) functional skills qualifications (14 students), enjoy sports/gym sessions, cooking lessons, Independent Living Skills – all on top of their core curriculum of creative and performing arts … there have also been trips out, and not one but two stupendous concerts. The first featured our Level 3 students and was live streamed so that everyone could experience the vibe. The second concert, with an especially invited small live audience, showcased all our Level 1 and 2 students, who had created props, scenery, and costumes to enhance their many wonderful music, drama and dance performances.
So, it was business as usual for us last term, and the forthcoming term will be similar with its summer concert (Saturday June 25th), deadline for RSL entries and functional skills exams.
But after that, we can look forward to some additions. Our expansion into a second site at The Jam Factory from September will allow us to cater for additional participants. Look out for the relaunch of our community-clubs and activities programme in the summer, but also, we are delighted to announce that we are branching into KS4 (for students in year 10/11 in York schools), adult-social care, extending our grant-funded Kickstart programme – and much more.
The beat definitely goes on, but gets louder as we grow, and reaches more and more people who love music, art, and performance arts.
